C02: APSA-SVS Multidisciplinary Pediatric Vascular Surgery Interest Group

Summary: The APSA-SVS task force’s spring quarterly interest group meeting at VAM 2024 encompasses a case-based format, subject matter prioritized by our multidisciplinary stakeholders.

Objectives:

  • Address diagnostic and imaging considerations for children that considers contrast media and radiation exposure.
  • Address technical aspects of the open surgical techniques and growing endovascular options for the pediatric vascular trauma patient.
  • Review the management if iatrogenic vascular trauma (ie: iliofemoral, especially as associated with acute limb ischemia).
  • Expand knowledge of practitioners regards the benefits of supportive care processes and specialized resources required for pediatric vascular trauma patients and their families given the social challenges associated with many forms of penetrating and blunt trauma (ie: domestic and gun violence).
