Summary: The frequency of TOS is clearly trending upwards for a wide range of reasons. Access to social media by a younger generation of consumers has created confusion and often misguided information leads patients to question current diagnostic and treatment options for TOS. The educational needs are vast, TOS tends to be managed by a small cohort of vascular surgeons (10-15%) but most vascular surgeons will see referrals for TOS patients. Educating vascular surgeons on current diagnosis, management and treatment options for thoracic outlet syndrome is essential.
