C21: Understanding the Business Aspects of Vascular Surgery

Summary:This session will provide vascular surgeons with a better understanding of the changing US health care industry and the future of US healthcare policy reform. Focused areas of education will include healthcare finance, value-based healthcare, supply chain management, appropriateness of billing and coding, and assessment of office-based labs. The global perspective of nine focused "hot topics" should motivate the attendees to become more business savvy and energize physicians to be engaged in administrative activities and government policy.

Objectives:

  • Understand benefits of vascular surgeons being active in administration.
  • Address US healthcare policy reform and how it impacts vascular surgeons.
  • Expand knowledge of value-based health care and supply chain.
  • Define reasons for participating in an OBL, and HVI.
  • Comprehend the value of vascular surgery and how to convey that message with administration.
