Bhagwan Satiani, MD, MBA, FACS, FACHE is Emeritus Professor in the Division of Vascular Diseases & Surgery, Department of Surgery at The Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus. His past and some current professional interests include clinical research with over 200 peer reviewed publications, several book chapters, coordinating and teaching physician leadership development and business education to residents and physicians, conduct practice management seminars for surgical residents. His current research is on physician engagement, healthcare integration models, faculty retention, physician work effort, compensation issues and surgeon workforce shortages. He was Director of the Faculty Leadership Institute and Director of Vascular Laboratories at Wexner Medical center at The Ohio State University. His published books include: The Smarter Physician series (3 volumes published by MGMA), co-author of “The coming shortage of surgeons: Why they are disappearing and what we can do about it” by Greenwood Publishers in 2009, ‘An American Journey: Life Lessons for parents of immigrant children’ published by Hamilton Books as well as ‘Color Atlas & Synopsis of Vascular Diseases” by McGraw Hill in 2013. Dr. Satiani’s community interests have included volunteering for ASHA-Ray of Hope, a Columbus, Ohio organization to prevent domestic violence in South Asians. He also served as Commissioner on the Minority Health Commission for the State of Ohio. He plays percussion for an Indian music group ‘Jhankar.’
