Dr. Takuro Shirasu is a vascular surgeon-scientist in Japan. He earned his medical degree from School of Medicine, The University of Tokyo. He has completed surgical residency at The University of Tokyo and its affiliated hospitals. He was then specialized in vascular surgery and obtained his PhD in Surgical Sciences from Graduate School of Medicine, The University of Tokyo. He spent 3 years at University of Virginia and Ohio State University as a researcher. Dr. Shirasu’s interests are in clinical outcome assessment of various vascular diseases and translational research for clinical unmet needs such as non-invasive therapeutics for aortic aneurysms and prevention of restenosis after vascular interventions. He is serving as a core member of JAST, or JSVS Academy and Surgical Training which is a young surgeons' committee of Japanse Society for Vascular Surgery. He is also participating in WFVS Global Training Initiative as a JSVS/JAST representative.
