Medical Student
Department of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, Wake Forest University School of Medicine, Winston-Salem, NC
Denmark, South Carolina
I am a 3rd year medical student (class of 2026) at Wake Forest interested in vascular surgery. Prior to medical school, I grew up in Beaufort, South Carolina and attended undergrad at Davidson College where I was captain of the rowing team. My upbringing as the son of a mechanical engineer and college educator, along with my experience in the sport of rowing, led me to value knowledge, innovation, technical expertise, and teamwork. These experiences shaped the foundation of my interest in vascular surgery. I am drawn to the field by the aspiration of being a surgeon who is able to care for patients throughout the course of their chronic illness. The specific qualities of vascular surgery that excite me are the intricacy involved in open and endovascular procedures, the ingenuity in operative planning/decision making, and importance of technology and device advancements. I am eager to learn more about vascular surgery. To reach me, my email is rnhamid@wakehealth.edu.
