Dr. Matthew Koopmann is a full-time vascular surgeon at the Portland VA Medical Center in Portland, OR. He is also an Associate Professor of Surgery in the Division of Vascular Surgery at the Oregon Health & Science University School of Medicine. He is a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army Reserves and has completed multiple deployments to Aghanistan and Syria as a member of Forward Resuscitated Surgical Detachments.
Dr Koopmann's research focus is in clinical trials, aortic device trials, and enhanced recovery after vascular surgery.
Dr. Koopmann earned his M.D. degree from the Ohio State University School of Medicine and completed his residency in general surgery at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics. He also completed a research fellowship at the University of Wisconsin Department of Nutritional Sciences and a clinical fellowship in vascular surgery at Washington University in St. Louis.
