Julia Stallings is a nurse practitioner with over 10 years of experience in cardiac surgery. She is a Baltimore native who chose her career based on a passion for science and health. She started her career in the cardiac operating room as an RN. Her interest in aortic disease led her to pursue her current role as a Nurse Practitioner specializing in aortic disease.
In addition to caring for patients, she currently works as the program lead for the Center for Aortic Disease at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Julia is a sub-investigator on many aortic surgical research trials, and oversees University of Maryland’s involvement in an international research registry known as IRAD (International Registry for Aortic Disease).
Throughout her clinical experience, she has taken a special interest in connective tissue disorders such as Marfans, Loeys-Deitz, and Ehlers-Danlos, which affect aortic health. Julia is passionate about educating patients and families about genetic testing and how aortic screening can prevent traumatic aortic events in family members of patients.
As a nurse practitioner in the surgical setting, Julia takes pride in being able to work amongst a strong multidisciplinary team to provide the highest standard of care to aortic patients.
