José L. Ortiz Fullana, MD, MPH, graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor’s in Science of Biology in 2014. Later, he completed a Master’s in Public Health specializing in Health promotion and education. His final project focused on the perception and attitudes of diabetic patients and health professionals about periodontal disease in the central part of the island of Puerto Rico. He graduated from Universidad Central del Caribe Medical School in 2020. Currently, he is a PGY-3 General Surgery resident at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Ponce, Puerto Rico. Besides his outstanding clinical and academic performance, he focuses on clinical research projects to improve peripheral artery disease outcomes in underserved population of Puerto Rico. Moreover, clinical research project topics range from innovative technique in the treatment of prosthetic vascular graft infections to outcomes of endovascular intervention outcomes in octo- and nonagenarians.
