Dr Kwame S Amankwah is a Professor and Chief of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at the University of Connecticut (UCONN Health). He is the Director of the Vascular Lab and the Program Director for the Vascular Integrated Residency and the Associate Program Director for the Vascular Surgery Program. Prior to his arrival to Connecticut, Dr Amankwah was a Professor of Surgery and Cell Biology at the State University of New York in Syracuse (UPSTATE), Director of the Surgical Clerkship and the Chief of Interventional Radiology at the Syracuse VA.
A native of Canada, Dr Amankwah attended the University of Toronto obtaining his Bachelor of Science and his Master of Science at the University of Toronto. He obtained his medical degree from Albany Medical College in Albany New York. He completed his residency in general surgery at the State University of New York in Brooklyn (DOWNSTATE) and his vascular surgery fellowship at Yale. He went onto to complete additional training in interventional radiology and advance endovascular training at Texas Tech in Lubbock Texas.
Dr. Amankwah is involved in several vascular surgery societies both nationally and internationally, as well as involved with educational development for the ABS SCORE curriculum, ABS Vascular Board and the National Board of Medical Examiners.
